Thwaite Cottage
Thwaite Farm and Cottage enjoy a stunning location alongside the River Lune near the small hamlet of Howgill in the Yorkshire Dales National Park. The Cottage has magnificent panoramic views of the Howgill Fells. Thwaite is a working farm with beef cattle and sheep. Howgill is about three miles from the small lovely market town of Sedbergh.
Thwaite cottage adjoins the end of the farmhouse and has recently been rebuilt and fully equipped. It is self-contained and sleeps six people with accommodation on two floors.
Facilities include: kitchen/dining room, living room, two double bedrooms and a WC with shower. There is a sofa-bed in the lounge.
The cottage is centrally heated with an oil stove in the kitchen and radiators in the other rooms. Duvets and bed linen are provided. Towels are available for a small additional charge of £5 per week. There is a washing machine and drier and the water supply is from our own spring.
Fishing rights are available by arrangement. There is a public telephone about half a mile away but we have good mobile coverage.
General information
The Howgills are the most westerly of the Pennine hills. Above the fields, the gently rounded contours of the hills give wide views and excellent open walking country. The main summits of The Calf and Calders are just over 200o feet.
The Howgills drain into the Rive Lune, which surrounds them in a greet arc. Sedbergh is a small market town famous for its public school. The town has become England’s first book town. As well as the bookshops there is a tourist office, banks, shops, pubs, a post office. The Lake District is due west with Kendal about 10 miles away. Dentdale, Garsdale, Mallestrang and Swaledale are within easy reach to the East.

Further information
Pets by arrangement (£10 per week), on the understanding that they will be kept under control at all times. A deposit of £25 per week is required at the time of booking and the balance is to be paid four weeks before the start of your holiday. Special arrangements, Christmas and New Year may require a deposit of up to 50 percent of the total cost. Please contact us for further information. A cot and a highchair are available on request. Ample private parking is available. You are also welcome to use the large lawned garden and garden furniture.
